Crowns
A crown covers a damaged tooth completely, with the size, shape and strength of the real thing.

When you’d need one
After a root canal, a large filling, a break or a fracture — or for a tooth that no longer matches the ones around it.
What it’s made from
Metal, porcelain, or porcelain fused to metal. All-ceramic crowns look the most natural and usually go on front teeth.
Holding a tooth together
A crown keeps a cracked tooth in one piece and protects a weakened one from splitting further. That’s often the real reason for fitting it.
Common questions
How many visits?
Usually two — one to prepare the tooth and take the impression, one to fit the crown. A temporary crown made here is £150.
Can I eat normally with it?
Once it’s fitted, yes. Treat it like the tooth it replaced.
